Occupy Wall Street

Occupy Wall Street

1. Who are the 99%, 1%? Where do you fall in this situation? How much of the nations income does the top 1% earn?

2. Do you agree with President Obama's decision to bailout the banks? What effects does this have on the 99%?

3. According to David Brooks of the NY Times, the "virtuous 99 percent" did what with economic environment during the boom years? Explain what this means.

4. After reading this article, explain who you blame for the economic situation we are in and give one example of a law that could be created to help the country get back on steady ground. Be prepared to defend your answer!!!

1.99% are the protesters and the people who are not rich the 1% is the rich Americans. i am on the protesters side. they earns 23%
    2. i disagree with Obama we should not bail out the banks.the protesters feel he is prolonging the recession
3.it says a lot of people over spent and over borrowed . it means that since we are so far in debt we need all groups to help get us out.
    4. i blame everyone it was not just one person or one group of people . i don't know what kind of law that could be made.

  2. 1.) The 99% are the citizens and the 1% is the wealthy rich people. I fall in this as a citizen. The top 1% earn 23 percent income.
2.) I do not agree with President Obama's decision to bailout the banks I think that was dumb. This just makes the 99% feel like hes helping the banks and not supporting them.
3.) David Brooks states that the virtuous 99 percent over consumed and over borrowed this means that too many people borrowed & consumed too much stuff.
4.) I blame the government for this economic situation because the government is always changing something up on people and it makes them mad. I think the law that could be created for this is that nothing should be changed unless citizens get to vote for it because i know they vote sometimes but on some of the stuff just pops up in the citizens face like raising taxes.

  3. 1. 99% are the protesters an the non-wealthy are the 1%. I am on the protesters side an they earn 23%.

    2. i disagree with Obama. We should not bail out the banks, and the protesters feel like he is extending the recession.

    3. a lot of people over spent and borrowed way to much. that means since we are in so much debt we need all the groups to help get us out.

    4. i dont think it was just one person, it was a group of people. i dont know of any laws that could be made to support the situation...

  6. 1. The 99% are the poor and middle class, and the 1% are the rich people. Im on the protesters side. They earn 23% of the nations top income.
    2. No I do not. I do not approve of anything a terrorist that infiltrated the government says. Thats just my oppinion.
    3. It means they spent more than they had, And the borrowed to much.
    4. Its every idiot that wasnt being financaly responsible, Its there fault whether its the rich or the poor. I dont know a law that could be made.

  7. 1. the 99% is the middle & poor class, I'm with Obama's plan so no comment until i see how that works out. the 1% makes between 1-10 mill.
    2. i do, it probably wouldn't help them from the start.
    3. David Brooks said "During the boom years, the supposedly virtuous 99% "over consumed and over borrowed." it means they took to much money.
    4. Its absolutely Bush's fault, he did retarded and unnecessary things and spent money we didn't have and his plan to fix the economics did not help in any way, in fact it made it worst then it was. i don't know any law that could help us at the moment that wouldn't be un-fair and un-just.

  8. 1. The 99% are the people that have to pay taxes and the 1% are the people that are not paying taxes and are getting rich because of it. I just got a job so i will b paying taxes soon. The top 1% earns about 30,000.

    2.Im not sure

3.They over-consumed and over-borrowed. Even if they tax away 50% of the income of those making between 1 million and 10 million they will only reduce the national debt by 1%

4.I blame the people and the government because of all the money they spend on like trees and stuff and then us the people we by cheap stuff but have to by more of it because its not as much are its not made good enough.

UNO> Anyone below wealth(1%) are the 99% of demonstrators that are and could be even more affected in the financial district. If 50% tax was taken away from the richest 1% making between one million to 10 million.. it would only reduced national debt by 1%. douse> I think Obama's bailout banks decision will only hurt us more.. we may not even be able to attend to our pay checks or saving accounts.. what will we do?? THRASE> There is no way to fix this issue with the richest one %. qonto>As far as blame for the economic situation, I cant really blame anything but the order of government performance. We should have had a plan for this a long time ago. In this case Gridlock did become GREEDLOCK! It has only pushed back the issue making it harder for when it came back around.. my worrys are if this can happen what else can happen to that 99% of us??

  10. We are the 99%- reflecting the demonstators' view that the wealthiest 1% are getting rich at the expense of everyone else. I have nothing against the people personally said protester Michael Pollack. "I just think they should pay there fair share of taxes too.

I Do Not Agree With President Obama. He said the protesters reflected "the frustration" many ordinary Americans feel toward top bankers, who caused the recession but escaped punishment... He said if you don't have a job then your not rich, so blame your self.... i think he is not worth of being the president, he doesn't care about the U.S. he i don't even think hes from america that could be a big reason he always F'ing us over...

During the boom years, the supposedly virtuous 99% "over consumed and over borrowed." Even if we tax away 50% of the income of those who are making 1 million to 10 million, we'll only reduce the national debt by 1%.

I blame President Obama for our economic situation we are in. i blame Obama because the way he is acting toward our protesters. plus if he cared he wouldn't be giving these movie star more money then they need and there not paying no taxes but us poor and middle class people have to pay them its not right and if they don't stop while there ahead they will really be suffering and the whole U.S. will be protesting and if we all stand up against them they wont be able to stop US....
