EMERGENCY! Text Alert

Emergency Text Alert

1.  What cell phone company sent out an emergency text message to users yesterday?  Where were the people who received the text message located?

2.  What were some of the reactions that people had to the text message?  What occurred in 1938 in the same place that frightened people?

3.  Do you believe that the benefits of sending out text message warnings outweighs the bad when a mistake is made?  In what situations would a text message warning be appropriate?

  1. 1. Verizon was the company that sent our
emergency text to users. the people that received the text lived in new jersey .
    2. people called the police and other emergency personnel , the Martian invasion was what happened in 1938 over a broadcast by the radio that people thought was real
3.i believe that if its a real emergency then yes but not if its not because it scares people and makes it harder for police and other emergency personnel

  2. 1. Verizon wireless. They were in Newark, New Jersey.

    2. Alot of the people who got the alert message called the phone company with concern and 911. A war of the world radio broadcast of a martian invasion in Grovers mill, N.J.

    3. No, because people will people will already know that there is an emergency, a text message alert would be appropriate during maybe a state or city emergency.

2.Some of the reactions were people called the police and other emergency places. The Martian Invasion was what happened in 1983.
3.No because now people wouldn't believe it if it was to really happen. I think its a bad idea because some people don't have cell phone's so they would get hurt.

  5. 1.Verizon sent out a text message to users yesterday.People were in local states and offices.
2.The people reacted by calling 911 and had alot of questions and it doubled between noon and 1pm. In 1938 war of the worlds got broadcasted and made people that it waz an emergency so they paniced.
3.I believe that the benefits of sending out the text message warnings does not outweighs the bad because as far as i read it has only happened twice and we need those types of things in todays world... Ok say if the white house got blown up or its a gaint fire ball from outer space or something is coming down then send out a text message to let everyone know that its an emergency and to take shelter at oonce.
